A 300 YEARS OLD TRADITION
There is talk of capitonnè already at the turn of 1700 and 1800. The completely manual processing has the purpose of forming square or rhomboid cushions arranged in the net that form a decorative quilting stopped by buttons or studs. The name capitonnè derives from the original use of CAPITON, that is the silk processing waste, that lent itself well to
be reused in this type of padding. So when you sit on a chair or a tufted sofa, you are sitting on a piece of history and, you are using a product that was only possible to produce after having acquired a great manual ability and for this reason we are so proud of our capitonnè and we want show you how it is born.
The capitonnè therefore crosses 300 years of history from post-revolutionary France, passing from the classic Chesterfied of the English tradition to being taken up on pieces of modern design. A decoration that can be declined in various ways and that is what we will do with the images you will see below.
